The Best Time of Year to Photograph Your Hocking Hills Cabin
By Zach Johnston · May 28, 2026 · 2 min read

The Hocking Hills changes character with every season, and so should the photos that sell your stay. The right timing can be the difference between a listing that blends in and one that stops the scroll.
Fall is king, but book early
Peak fall color, usually mid to late October, is the single most in-demand window in the region, and fall cabin photos sell that window better than anything else you can add to a listing. Golden hour light through changing leaves makes a cabin glow. The catch: it is also the busiest time for both guests and photographers, so plan your shoot weeks ahead.
Summer for the lifestyle shots
Long days and lush greenery make summer ideal for lifestyle and amenity photos: the hot tub steaming at dusk, string lights over the deck, a fire pit at blue hour. If your property leans toward families and groups, summer imagery shows it at its liveliest. Summer is also when the region's festival calendar fills event weekends, and group-friendly photos match exactly what those guests are booking.
Winter sells the cozy
Do not sleep on winter. A dusting of snow, a lit fireplace, and warm interior light photograph beautifully and lean straight into the "cozy escape" guests are searching for in the off season. Twilight exteriors are especially powerful here.
Spring for fresh and bright
Spring brings full waterfalls, wildflowers, and clean, bright light. It is a great time to refresh a listing that has been running on older photos.
The real answer: shoot for the season you want to fill
If your calendar is soft in winter, get winter photos. The goal is to match your imagery to the booking gaps you are trying to close. A full set of seasonal photos lets you swap your hero shot throughout the year so your listing always feels current.
